Information on 90s strain (from "Cheers" in Emmen)

First of all, HI. I'm Jo and I'm super thankful i found this forum. I am very sorry that it is not possible for me to write in Dutch, I hope you won't be mad at me. Normally I spend my time on the grower.ch forum, but I'm not getting anywhere with my research there and I really hope that one of you can help me out. I am VERY grateful for any tip.

During the period of 1996-2000, I regularly drove to Emmen to the "Cheers" and bought the so-called "Aanbieding" there. 8g for 50 Gulden. Back then, the strain almost always tasted the same (at least in my memory). Now, 30 years later, I am on a journey back to the good old youth and am looking for information about this strain and, ideally, old or reproduced seeds of it.

Any information would be extremely helpful.

No matter who I've asked so far, everyone was always of the opinion that it must have been Skunk #1. Consequently, I have grown several Skunk #1 versions (Sensi, Dutch Passion...). And surprise, surprise: none of the results came close (I am aware that the genetics changed over time—but it was worth a try nonetheless).

Now for my big questions:

• Who can give me a tip on how which strain that must have been?
• I know it's insanely unlikely, but: Is there someone here in the forum or a shop that has reproduced this strain as true to the original as possible at some point and has seeds of it in their stash? I'm sure we could reach an agreement (purchase or trade).

Aan wie ik het ook vroeg, iedereen dacht altijd dat het om Skunk #1 moest gaan. Daarom heb ik verschillende versies van Skunk #1 gekweekt (van Sensi, Dutch Passion...). Maar helaas: geen van de resultaten kwam ook maar in de buurt (ik weet dat genetica in de loop der tijd verandert, maar het was het proberen waard).

Nu mijn grote vragen:
- Wie kan me een tip geven over welke soort dit geweest zou kunnen zijn?
- Ik weet dat de kans ontzettend klein is, maar: is er hier op het forum iemand, of is er een shop, die deze soort ooit zo natuurgetrouw mogelijk heeft gereproduceerd en er nog zaden van heeft liggen? We komen er vast wel uit (koop of ruil).

I's honestly love to help some, but unfortunately it's not that local to me, i've never been to that shop and wasn't even born yet in those days.


But have you tried asking the shop itself yet?
Perhaps the owner can help?

Thanks for the reply and thanks for the tip. Sure, i called them at some point but they told me "its too long ago" and i could not talk to the owner. Since i´m living 400km away now, there is sadly no chance of visiting the shop for me anymore and waiting for someone to give me info. And i could not find a mail-address to send my request to.

My next step would be to find some breeders/seed producers that used to be active back in the day and ask them for info...

What i can say... When i was an even younger boy i smoked this one blueberry strain. A local shop sold it for about a week.
The taste was so flipping good it completely overwhelmed me.
I've been hunting for a similar blueberry for about 15 years since.. No luck.
Maybe it was just my experience at the time. Who knows.. It's like video games. When i was younger every game would absolutely hypnotize me. All the worlds looked soo damnn colorfull and pretty.

Now the same games are just... meh games. I can play them for about 15 min and im done.
Perhaps some things are better left as nostalgia. They can only dissapoint now.

Were some of the answers multiple choice ? Just comparing when i visted a few shops in a few years the "aanbieding" was always 1 out 5 kinds , like nlx , bubblegum , jack herer , ... .

So what i was thinking , when growers grow it for shop or street, they grew a lot , and used the same strain over and over . So maybe i would maybe browse for other shops in that area for their old menus , or what people bought on the street back then maybe ? It's a long shot but maybe ? Goodluck with the search !

In my memory it was always the same type of weed at least during these years.
And sadly in the "Ankara" (which was the only shop there by that time) they did not sell the same strain. We bought the Aanbieding in the Cheers mainly because it was much cheaper. Poor kids we were, and now i want the cheap stuff back - so rediculous. .

Must be grown under an old HPS lamp as well with ´90s nutrients. That also plays a role in taste and smell.

Heb hier nu weer n filmpje gezien over hoe led ontstaan is en hoe slecht plant mens en dier erop reageren , wel niet slecht want alles gaat sneller en harder, maar eerder in de zin van niet alle bouwstoffen zijn aanwezig door led, een kunstmatige reactie . Es vragen aan ai , meer dan 10 punten zijn anders met led in een plant

Very good point. I never thought about this "difference". First i will try to get Info on the strain and when i eventually finally make it to a grow then i could try both. This would be soo cool. But i never tried HPS grows before. There are sooo many things out here that we can experiment with.

The weed itself was it different in any way than other strains visually ?


I thought there were a few posts here about old strains, it had to be bred in belgium or holland in large scale, so the seeds used werent from breeders . They exchanged them in those circles . The only way to find them then is if those illegal growers went legal via genetics . I just don't think it will be the ones that are famous now though...

Maybe emailing green house seeds or so , i also read a part of a book called 'drugsbaron in spijkerbroek ' . The ones who grew and transported it back in those days , talk rather freely about it now i think? But that specific place or links with it unsure again. Nederwiet documentaries perhaps ? Old footage ..

But when i search for things i go all out , and when i need to keep it simple it becomes chaotic so maybe the answer is really obvious and easy for the right person like you say . I just started smoking in 99 myself... the strains back then in belgium could be affiliated but i doubt it . I can remember a few ..
